Viktor Blom WHAT MAKES THE SWEDISH SUPERSTAR ONE OF POKER’S BEST? VideoViktor Blom's Aces get cracked by Arto's AK in a £14K pot
Win he very much did. Before long, Blom attracted the attention of the poker brands, and, having turned 21, he was a huge commercial asset as well as a great poker player.
But who would land him? Within a year, however, Blom had become a Full Tilt Pro instead, switching from PokerStars to the site it had bought out.
Blom needed a brand less than most players however and was still a fixture in high roller tournaments and, of course, cash games. After moving to London around , he was said to have hired a personal assistant so that he could focus on playing and practicing poker.
When Blom was asked about his shirt, someone else at the table said each skull represented every opponent Blom had defeated. Blom deflected the good-natured laughter with a polite smile as a way of dealing with his fearsome reputation.
His past victories and failures still stir up a lot of controversies; videos of Viktor Blom playing poker have been watched by millions, and the hands he played ten years ago are still widely discussed!
Poker celebrities are normally known for their skills and success; as well as for the money they win at the end of the game!
But things are different with Viktor Blom. His net worth is still unclear. Some people say he is still broke after so many downswings he suffered, and still owes money to some other poker players.
This is far less than the total earnings of many successful poker professionals seem to get talked about a lot less.
Skills, styles, and strategies? Artur Martirosian had other ideas. Between Events 23 and 27, Martirosian cashed four times. The two-day finale gets underway on Monday and will be the first time the action has taken place online.
To determine who gets a seat, the organizers usually host a ballot. With coronavirus forcing the action online, entry is open to anyone.
When tilting in a 6-max game or even a HU game , I think his results get hurt quite a bit. The majority of my high stakes opponents have put more work into their games away from the tables than I have which is still more than Viktor.
He impresses me on every level- Not only his game, but his competitive drive, his love of poker, and his refreshingly happy disposition.
You just have to respect someone who has his money from poker but plays the toughest games and highest stakes available for fun.
With his talent, fearlessness, and pure enjoyment of the game, are we witnessing the beginning of one of the top poker legends of our time?
Personally, I believe that Viktor has the capability to be the best in whatever form of poker he focuses on certainly any big bet game , but he needs to work on his discipline if he wants to have sustained and major success.
Can he plug some of the leaks standing in his way to rising to the top and staying there? Can he tighten up his 6-max PLO game? Can he exercise some bankroll management and not put his whole roll on the line consistently?
First — awesome article. Being young helps players not care about money and treat poker as a video game with many levels. Awesome post about isildur.
Interesting choice of topic. What are some other things you might write about on here? Fun to speculate though. Also, I think as far as raw poker talent goes, you have to give major props to Ivey and Antonius who compete with specialists in every game.
Isildur could be heading in that direction. Maybe that helps develop unique ways of thinking about the game.
Occasional well thought out posts. Quality over quantity. What is his style and what are his tendencies that make him a world class NLH player?
Put another way. Publicizing and breaking down his strengths, allows his competitors to get better and prematurely forces Blom to change his game.
Absolutely brilliant read, Phil. I say that as a massive fan of Viktors, and yours. But I must admit that I feel like you should do Viktor and yourself a favour and delete this before it hits the archives.
You are both young. Great blog Phil! This is really weird but how tall is Viktor? Did he put money away from his Euro winnings?
Basically has he put money in some sort of fund so that he can cover the basic necessities of life? Does he have a car yet?
Has Tom Dwan ever confessed how badly he was beaten by Isildur1 or does he attribute the loss to something else?
One thing I respect about Phil Galfond more than anything is his humility. Nice post too. I always read your posts.. Good work man, although this time I have a different opinion.
